I recieved this email and it really made me stop and think about how mad i get sometimes when I'm running late...wow! PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!
As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man, who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today.
Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone…all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment...Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you.
May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.

The question contains so many vague concepts, it is hard to tell just what you mean and what kind of answer you are looking for. By "reason" do you mean a so-called "higher" reason? That is, that each particular event is part of some complex end or goal, of which we are all ignorant? Or do you simply mean that there is a cause for each event and that we are thus inextricably caught up in a deterministic world?
It seems also, that saying "create our own destiny" is a contradiction. Destiny assumes a predetermined future, at least in the common usage of the word. So if we are creating it, presumably as we go, then it is not destiny at all. Likewise if it truly is "destiny," we cannot change it--though we do perhaps feel as if we make some difference in it.

If I could control my own destiny, I would be on the North Shore of Oahu, again. We have to go along for the ride, you're right. We evolve as we go with the flow. How can one create their own destiny, you can go ahead and try it. Mother nature will throw you a curve ball, and I promise, you will change your plans quick. I am in New Orleans and was here for Katrina, you asked the right person. We are not driving, we are like the blind, leading the blind.
God bless us all...

We can't always explain why things happen, but God is soveriegn and is complete control. We can clearly see it in the Old Testament that the Isrealites were either delivered by God into the hand of thier enemy or God delivered thier enemy to Isreal. Why do good things happen to good people? God never created the earth to be filled with strife. That can be clearly seen in the first chapters of Genesis. The Fall of Man brought sickness into the world, and therefore making it our own fault. We didn't have to eat the forbidden fruit.

Ecclesiastes 9:11: “I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.”
I see no reason to blame God for all of the miseries caused by bad choices, greed, lust, desire for personal prominance, selfishness, pride, etc., etc., etc.
Everyone has free will. And I do not believe that God is to blame for the sins of mankind.
Just my two cents...

To believe everything happens for a reason in the sense that I think you mean it would imply that all events are predestined. I do not believe that I believe that there is free will. However, some events do occur as a result of prior events. Therefore, preparation and planing will pay off in ones life.

I think the choices we make affect our lives. WE choose what to do and when we do it. Our choices and the affect it has on our environment run the courses of our lives. You may not agree because you already have your idea set in stone probably. I don't want to think that there is a reason for a man to watch his daughter get run over by a car.

I personally think that everything happens for a reason.
The choices we make in life have consequences.
I think that a lot of times a situation presents itself; due to a decision you made long ago.

I am 50/50 on this. I think in some things or times, even trials are preordained but in general I think life is about choices and changes, however I do think you can influence others you are to meet and that is preordained.
