Sorry PJ they made it to the ALCS in 87 but the Twins won that series 4-1 and went on to win the World Series 4-3 over the Cardinals

The Detroit Played the San Diego Padres in the 1984 World Series. Tigers won just like they will this year. Prior to that, the Tigers beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1968 World Series.

They were in the 1984 World Series. They beat the San Diego Padres. Sparky Anderson was the manager of the Tigers then. When they won that WS he became only the 2nd manager in Major League history to win a WS in each leauge. First with the Reds then with the Tigers.
