Obviously, as we all know, Walt Disney World is very expensive. You get what you pay for, though. I never eat at any of those "cheap" quick service restaurants at the Walt Disney World theme parks. When you're on a Walt Disney World vacation, you may as well go all out. The women in my family love to cook and therefore we all really appreciate food of any kind. At the Animal Kingdom Park we eat at the Rainforest Cafe. The pizza there is delicious, made with fresh cheese and basil. At Disney-MGM Studios we usually eat at Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano. The freshly baked flatbreads are great, and the fried calamari is very fresh. At the Magic Kingdom Park we always eat at Tony's Town Square. There's nothing greasy about the chicken florentine there! At EPCOT the Coral Reef Restaurant serves incredible, fresh fried calamari and other seafood. Also, at EPCOT, at the "Living With the Land" attraction you learn that they grow all kinds of fresh vegetables there for the different restaurants. All of these restaurants are top-notch and so is the food.
If you don't want cheap food, don't cheap out. You have the choice to spend more for the better food or spend the minimum to put not-so-healthy foods into your body. Don't complain about the food at the quick service restaurants- they're just like McDonald's- nasty, fatty, greasy foods, and it's your own problem if you settle for it, not Disney's. There's plenty of restaurants with fantastic, very healthy food, and if you really don't want to spend much money on food just pack a small picnic. Bring a backpack with bottled drinks, sandwiches, amd bags of chips. They allow you to bring stuff like that into the parks.

Yes, they are. On October 16th, The Walt Disney Corporate office released an announcement and article about their new healthy eating plan. The new healthy food initiative has begun now in all of Disney's US theme parks and will be completed internationally by the end of 2007. You'll find that kids meals now have a choice of un-sweetened applesauce, baby carrots, or fresh fruit as side dishes. They also offer lowfat milk, bottled water, and 100% fruit juice as a drink option, instead of just soda.
For adults, Disney has set out to extensively lower the trans-fat content in all of their foods, including packaged snacks and baked goods. Hamburgers are now made with meat with 20% less fat and served on buns which contain a minimum of 10% whole wheat.
I, personally, am thrilled at Disney's new initiative to help American's and those visiting our country's theme parks to eat healthier and fight this obesity epidemic.

there is SO much walking at Marineland I wonder if your little ones are up for that? The food is expensive and not very healthy. How about a treat when you get there and some snacks to take in. I would pack a picnic to eat when you are done there before traveling home. May i also suggest you all wear brightly colored tops of similar color to easily recognize each other. .Don't waste your money on the photos they will take of you feeding the whales. Not worth it. Some years ago we went towards the end of the season on a weekday. It was great because people were not on vacation anymore and the park was very quiet. My kids were able to take part in the sea lion show and pet and feed the whales. If your children enjoy the park you may want to re visit in late Oct. Have A Great Time!

Healthy is all the eye of the beholder. Salad can be healthy along, but not with salad dressing. How fattening is salad dressing? It has quite a bit. Bread is fattening. Too much of anything isn't healthy. It's the person, and not the food.
Are you going to get coffee, soda, or water? Water is healthier than soda, or coffee supposedly, but is it?? If you don't have enough energy, you probably need coffee, and soda. So, what do you consider healthy, or not?
People say ice cream isn't healthy. It's just frozen milk, and some other additional ingredients. If you are a person that doesn't like Burger King because it's unhealthy, than I say you go right back there today.
Get there salad without dressing, and you shall see how bad it is.

Disney say that they are banning junk food for kids from there park menus (in the us anyway) when I went to florida I saw some of the biggest kids I have ever seen but Im not blaming disney. Im blaming the parents who were pushing a 10st 8yr old around in a park pushchair instead of making them walk (I saw the kid walk at 1 point and there was nothing wrong with her) Its the parents who say yes or no to these kids. Disney have also cut ties woth mcdonalds now as part of the new healthy image.

Your on vacation, so what does it matter?! I mean why blame society for kids being fat when it's really the parents that can't say no to there kids.
Last time I was at Disney (last month actually) there was this kid in line, had to be at least 10 & was at least 150 lbs. The mother was trying to make him get something healthy like a fruit cup, etc but the kid was pitching a fit & begging for ice cream. Well he started to scream & cry & the mother gave in & walked him over to the ice-cream section & got him a huge scoop of ice cream. I mean hello, it's her money & she needs to tell her fat kid NO.
If parents would get there kids away from the TV & away from the video games & get them outside to play, etc. & have them eat healthy then kids in America would not be fat.

I'd say absolutely not!
I visited EuroDisney in June, and at the park's restaurants and cafés all I could find to eat (as a vegetarian) was a cheese/tomato "Pizza Mickey", or a small garden salad.
All the other meals were of the burger/hotdog/grilled cheese sandwich variety.
In short, this is cheap stuff that's easily stocked frozen and defrosted to be cooked a la McDonalds. To cook a healthy lunch in about 20 seperate cafés for thousands of visitors a day would cost too much.

No, because they want to make food fast, easily and as flavorful as they can so that we as the consumer can get what we want.
And those three combinations aren't what make healthy food, and we tend to go for the better tasting food than the healthier food so that's where our money goes and that's what Disney will sell.
