If you get physical therapy does that mean you get massages?

Physical therapy may entail massage, but it is only a small portion of what we do. The job of a physical therapist is to perform an evaluation of the neuromusculoskeletal system, provide a PT diagnosis and use critical reasoning to determine what is causing the problem...is it a shortened muscle, a weakned muscle, are there structural deviations causing the problem? Based on that evaluation the physical therapist will decide the best treatment approach which may include massage, but may also include streching, strengthening, posture education, gait training, balance training, modalities such as electrical stimulation...etc. If you go in there EXPECTING a massage, you MIGHT be disappointed if the therapist feels that it will not be of benefit to you.

Massage is used primarily to relieve muscular tension after injury or spasm...if your pain is not being caused by this problem (let's say the pain is due to a disc problem) massage will be of no benefit to you. (Although it sure feels good, doesn't it?)

NO! It often means that under direction you do a lot of very hard, sometimes painful physical exercises to get an affected body part back in shape. I know.

lets see...really phisical therapy can be recived if you maybe had surgury or was in an accident of some kind...you will have to work out that area of your body to make sure it works normally. massages you can get if your stressed .thats how i see it

It could mean that but it is not limited to that. It could also be physiotherapy, just another way of wording it.
