Not necessarily they can be white, even light green or slightly yellow.

Main factors on which it is dependent:
1. Origin (Arctic or Antarctic)
2. Type (Glacier or Broken from Fast Ice)
3. Form (Tabular etc)
4. Years( 1st year/ 2nd year / multi year)
5. Salt content.
