Try www.chelydra.org for lots of good info on these animals!
Snappers eat a variety of meats. Young eat small fish, crustaceans, shellfish, worms, etc. You can also try chicken, etc. The link above offers lots of options and the pros and cons of many of them.
If it is a Super Wal-Mart you might get some food in the grocery store, or maybe in the goldfish or guppy tanks.

Snappers are technically omnivorous, but their diet consists mainly of meat. They like fish, tadpoles, crustaceans, and anything else that swims around the deep parts of creeks. Offering one lettuce is sorta like offering a T-bone steak to your pet rabbit.

These turtles are flesh eaters. The best thing you can do is to go to a fish bait store & pick up some minnows, shiners, nightcrawlers etc. & offer these to your turtle. You should have a very happy turtle with these food offerings.
