never worked for me either, think it is an old wives tale. can vaguely remember it was a little soothing though. thought you had to pull out the eyelash in the centre of the stye. can't remember seeing anyone with a stye for years now, think it is due to better personal hygiene/cleaner towels for dying, better diet etc.

i was always told that the purer the gold the better it worked and it had to be yellow gold but that was the only explanation anyone could ever give me
