Metformin can induce ovulation in women with PCOS. I have PCOS myself and have been on Metformin for years. I don't know if it has resumed ovulation in my case... but it has definitely had other positive results, and some reduction of other symptoms. None of these changes occurred overnight though, it took months before I noticed a change in my condition (including weight reduction, slightly more regularity to my cycle, and a more sensible appetite)... so persevere.
Try and remain active as well. If you are overweight at all, even just losing a few kg can make a big difference to fertility when you have PCOS. And losing it through exercise is going to make far more of a difference than losing it any other way. And don't torture yourself diet-wise... but if there happen to be any foods you regularly consume that you just know aren't right for you, replace them with something that is.
Combining the Metformin with a few lifestyle changes can help you to have better luck with it. All the best.

My doctor put me on metformin and three weeks later I was pregnant. Although it ended in a miscarriage, it did work.

Isn't metformin used for diabetes? It may also help with conceiving but it seems a bit odd.

I didn't. But my fertility doctor has several patients who have. Good luck, I know this is a really hard thing to go through.
