Good question! I can't answer your question but try going to www.greenpeacesaveordelete.org. There you will be able to find out loads of info on the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.
Also google Xingu National Park (Big nature reseve on the Southern edge of the forest)where you will find out how much the Indians are under threat. Good luck!
