brunette234: I answered your post about a bunny and I'm going to say pretty much the same thing here. Bunnies don't stay babies forever and they require a 10-year commitment when taken care of properly.

You can't really walk a rabbit. It walks you, lol. (Meaning you go wherever he/she wants to go.) Rabbits groom themselves and don't need baths unless they have a messy bottom. Rabbits are smart and can learn things easily, but because of their intelligence, they can be destructive when they're bored. They're very playful and affectionate, but not hyper. They're quiet, they can be littertrained, and they're most active at dawn and at dusk, which works out really well for those with a 9 to 5 job

Rabbits should be spayed/neutered to be the best well-tempered pets and once they have their surgery, they can live for 10+ years. A rabbit who is not spayed/neutered is at a much greater risk for cancer, especially the females: an 80% chance! Rabbits need a rabbit-savvy vet, not any one will do.

Rabbits aren't really good "cuddling" pets. As a prey animal, they prefer all four paws on the ground, so you will need to sit next to them when you pet them.

Rabbits are the only pets I know, but what about a chinchilla or a hedgehog? Maybe a sugar glider is a good idea.

Well, I have/love guinea pigs, but they can be shy & skittish, you shouldn't really "walk" them, and their intelligence is limited so many tricks are out of the question. I don't know why more people haven't suggested it, but I really think a rat would suit you well - I don't have one myself, but I work at Petsmart and hear a looooot of feedback from people about their pets. Budgie = noisy, ferret = smelly, guinea pig = "boring", bearded dragon = well, people like their bearded dragons, but you can't really walk them. But, my happiest customers all have rats - two girls came through my line one day - one was cuddling an adorable rat, and I jokingly asked the other girl where hers was. She said "Oh, he's playing in my hair." I thought she was joking, until she walked off and I happened to look up and see a tail sticking out of her bun!

u know wat u should get a Guinea Pig. I have two and they are so loveable. They don't take up your time. Cleaning the cages are easy. and they are cheap if don't have money. The food and the bedding should just cost u up to 40 and it will last for a long time. ANd Guinea pig cost like 35 and is worth it in the end cause u watch them grow and is very cute.

Sounds like what you want is a rat. They're smart enough to teach tricks to, you can leash them and carry them around, and they're somewhat affectionate. Plus, they freak some people out, which can really be a plus! :)

rabbits are good pets, especialy the minature rabbits. They are a nice size to sit on your lap, and they smell less than the larger rabbits. You do have to clean out their cage fairly regularly.

If you gotta ask what you should get then you dont need a pet right now. Most people get a pet when they know what they want and how to take care for it.
