First of all you need to pick up after yourself as you go about the day. Like if you make something to eat and go eat in the living room take all the dishes back in to the kitchen as soon as you get up again and then clean up your mess in the kitchen at that time. When you put stuff off until later that is when it gets messy.
I use Clorox wipes for surfaces like my kitchen counters and cleaning the bathroom. I use a Clorox ( I think thats who makes it) toilet wand with the disposable scrubby heads to clean my toilets and Clorox Clean up for getting rid of stains on counters and mildew around the tub. I use Scrubbing Bubbles to get rid of soap scum. You should do that kind of cleaning like once a week or at least twice a month. Good luck.
Oh and I also use Glade plug ins with scented oil (vanilla most of the time) and Yankee candles (usually vanilla also)
P.S. I use a Swiffer Wet Jet instead of a mop and the Shark instead of a vacuum. It works really good and is cordless.

Vacuum regularly - every other day is ideal. I clean the bathroom (toilet, sink, vanity, mirror) on Tuesday & take out the litter from the automatic cat box. I alternate weeks to wash the bathroom/kitchen floors on Friday evening or Saturday morning. Trash at least 2x/week. When you make a trash dash pick up catalogs, magazines, papers, old shoes, and give it the heave ho
Swiffers are okay for light cleaning, but I prefer a Libman Tornado mop w/Lysol for deep cleaning. Then Mop N Glow to put a shine on the floor. I like Dow Scrubbing Bubbles for the bathroom, Chlorox toilet cleaner, and Hope's Perfect Glass.
Change the sheets weekly and do laundry when you accumulate enough to make a load. I like Tide Simple Pleasures Vanilla and Lavendar but you might only want to use these for linens and towels.
Plan on 20-30 minutes a day and you will soon start to see a vast improvement.

It is all about being organized. When you take off clothes put them in laundry basket. Some laundry baskets are made with three compartments (one for whites, one for colors, and one for towels) and that way the laundry is already sorted. When you dirty up a dish wash it when you are finished. Normal cleaning products will work, you just have to use them. Decide ahead of time which days to do different cleaning chores....... like maybe do laundry on Saturday, Vacuum on Tuesday and Thursday...you get the idea. If you live alone it should not have that big a chore with cleaning. Just do like I suggested and get organized. If you leave any one chore undone for too long it becomes overwhelming to do and you get discouraged. Make a plan and then stick to it. You will soon see that it is not hard at all to keep your place clean. Now, if you have tons of money, you can always hire a maid......lol.

I clean my house several times per day. It depends on the severity of it on how long I spend. When I do everything it usually takes me about 1-2 hours and that entails scrubbing the bathroom, doing the dishes, vaccuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping. I try to do the dishes every day after dinner before bed. I take out the trash everyday. I keep a trash can in the bathroom, bedroom living room and kitchen. I try to keep clutter to a minimum by throwing out all junk mail at one time. I have a one touch rule in my house. Once you touch it put it where it belongs. I do one room begginning to end so I don't forget where I was and what I have finished. The cleaning products that you use is completely up to you. I use clorox clean up in the kitchen. Pledge for dusting, pledge multi-surface works well. I use tilex tub and tile for the bathroom. I makes it so I don't have to scrub so much in the bathroom. Good luck and hope that i have helped!!

Really, it's a time and clutter management issue for me. 1. I avoid keeping appliances out on kitchen counters and try to keep knick-knacks under control. This way it's easier and faster to dust and sterilize. 2. We have a nightly tradition in my family called "The Blitz." We set the timer for 30 minutes after dinner, and everyone has to clean/straighten non-stop until the timer beeps. No TV, stereo, or even answering the phones.
For bugs and bacteria. I vacuum 3 times a week. I use a vacuum with an "auto-level" so I don't have to change the height - I just go room to room. I can do 1400sf in 5-10 mins max. I make sure to use the brush attachment for corners and baseboards at the same time. (And the ceiling fan blades.) I use a mild bleach solution (cheap spray bottle at Lowes with water and 1 tablespoon of bleach.) to wipe down kitchen counters.
My favourite trick? Costco shop rags. They sell 48 terry cloth towels for $12. I use them for the dishes, wipe down the counters, and put them in a hamper in the kitchen. I go through about 20 a week. Then I just bleach them in the wash on Saturday. They're cheaper and more durable than paper towels. And nobody every comes to my house to admire my dish towels - so why bother with fancy ones?

Pick up after yourself. Empty trash every evening. Wash the dishes - even if there is only one plate - every night, then put it away in the cupboard. I run the vacuum every day - in the most used rooms - hallway, living room and kitchen/dining rooms. A feather duster works well, especially in a hurry! Keep dirty laundry to a minimum and put it away in drawers and closets. Bathrooms look cleaner if the mirror is clear and the bowl is clean (pour 1 cup Clorox bleach and let it sit). Open windows and let fresh air flow! I have a 5 bedroom home, a husband, a dog that sheds, and birds. These are my basics! Clean windows are also a bonus!

As a 23 year old living with a slob of a boyfriend, I can totally sympathize with you. I wish my guy were more like you and was at least TRYING to keep it clean. Just make sure you put everything away as soon as you're done using it. I know sometimes this is hard, because you may be running late or whatever, but make it a point to at least tidy up before you go to bed.
You should sweep your floors at least once a week, mop every other week. If you have hardwood floors, use Murphy's Oil Soap, they sell it everywhere. It makes your floors super duper shiny!! If you have carpet, you should vacuum once a week, or more if necessary, using that powder stuff to make it smell good.
For the bathroom, try using a daily shower spray to keep it relatively clean until you have time to scrub all day. I use this Lysol Clorox stuff with Teflon to keep my toilet white and clean. Also, make sure you clean you showerhead at least once a month with good ol' bleach to kill bacteria that grow inside it.
Pledge wipes and Windex all-purpose are perfect for cleaning coffeetables and living and dining room furniture.
I use Clorox wipes in my kitchen. And you should never ever leave dishes in the sink for over 2 days. We rarely eat at home, so most of the time, my sink is empty anyway. Make sure you throw out old food at least once a week or so, and you won't open your fridge to find a new civilization inside worshipping you.
You don't really have to divide up the rooms, as long as you pick up after yourself, you shouldn't need overhaul cleaning like that and can do it in one day. But on those cleaning days, save the bathroom and kitchen for last.

1. Purchase the following supplies: bucket, sponges, windex, lysol all purpose cleaner,, ajax and lysol wipes. Keep lysol wipes in both your kitchen and bathroom.
2. Kitchen/bathroom should be cleaned at least twice a week - we're talking get down on the floor to wash it (screw those swifters - those are for the lazy or for quick clean ups). Start at the top and work towards the bottom: Put ajax in your toilet bowl. While that's settling, go to the sink and clean it. Go to your bathtub/shower and scrub it. Go back to the toilet and get out the brush and scrub that. Clean mirror(s) Now get down on your knees to wash the floor. Same thing goes for the kitchen- minus the toilet bowl step (obviously!). Wash down the fridge, stove, counter top, cupboards, sink and then floor. Keep dishes clean - don't stack them up in the sink - it'll gross you out by the end of the week you just won't want to touch them!!
2. Bedrooms - after you use something, put it back. Do'nt put clothes on the floor. after doing your laundry, put clothes away, don't stack them. Vacuum at least every other day. Dust at least once a week.
3. Living room - vacuum at least every other day. Don't leave glasses and cans lying around. Toss them/wash them when you are done.
I'm a clean freak (cleaining it right now, taking a little break!) so I may sound a tad obsessed....but the cleaner you keep it weekly, the less gross it is to tackle!!! Lysol cleaning products rock by the way - and leaves a nice fresh, clean scent. Have fun! Oh, on the days you don't do the hard cleaning, use those lysol wipes to keep bacteria free!!

Wash each dish, or put it in the dishwasher as you go, and put your clothes in the hamper or washer as soon as you are through wearing them. I like to clean a room per day- but I usually vacuum the whole place every three days or so. Get a Dustbuster for the little messes in between vacuums. Also, make tidying up part of your routine before you go to bed every night. Every night before I go to bed, I wipe down the kitchen counters, sweep, and start the dishwasher if it's full. As far as products go, I use Lysol bathroom cleaner, and when I dust I just use a slightly damp cloth. If your apartment has that paint smell get some Eucalyptus and put it in a vase, or get some plants, they will help clean the air. I don't generally use Carpet stuff, but I have used that no vacuum foam before to get rid of cooking smells in the carpet.

Best thing to do is a whole house cleaning room by room. Purge all unnecessary items, and organize the things you are keeping. Then from there, every day go to each room and just tidy up. If this is done every day it should not take you more than 5 minutes per room. It is harder than it sounds, but with some diligence it works.
