Just got in from the match and both teams were awful, but the Boro won regardless. Can Newcastle dig themselves out of a very big hole?? They we're certainly on par with the Boro but couldn't score for toffee, is it likely that they will have their true derby next season with the Mackem's down in the Championship?

I agree "Alex P" but don't forget every team Glen has taken to 7th he went on to get them relegated the following season!!!!!

I'm a Boro fan but don't want to see the Geordies go down, I love the banter on the 3 Legends and wish Sunderland were still up here with us! North east football should be up there with the best, not second rate like we have been for ages, One Carling cup, One Fa cup and the Fairs cup in the last 50 odd years is not good enough!!

Of course Newcastle are going down! Look at Glenn Roeder's managerial record:

Watford: 1994-5 7th
Watford: 1995-6 Relegation

West Ham: 2001-2 7th
West Ham: 2002-3 Relegation

Newcastle: 2005-6 7th
Newcastle: 2006-7 Relegation ??? Bound to be.

(the only team Roeder did not relegate was Gillingham, and they finished second from bottom in the league in his last season! Needless to say, if Newcastle finish second from bottom in the Premiership, they will go down)

unless something is done quickly i am afraid newcastle will be joining sunderland, glen roeder is not a good manager and like the rest lately he should be shown the door. i dont think alan shearer would make a very good manager yet so i think they will have to look abroad and appoint someone with a proven record, there must be someone out there who could turn the tables

No, they'll stay up, even if it's a bit of a struggle. They have a good team but at the moment they're struggling to work together. Once Owen's back will provide them a boost, remember they were languishing down the bottom of the league this time last year and finished in 7th.

I'm fed up with Newcastle being described as a big club. Win something then we may believe them. I like Geordies but WIN SOMETHING

They just need to get their backsides in gear. With Shearer gone, they don't know who to look to to start scoring goals. When that's sussed, they'll get their rhythm back and start winning again.

No they will pick themselves up soon, don't despair, at least they will remain in the premiership.
