A better question would be "What if Frederick (son of Wilhelm I, father of Wilhelm II) would have lived longer?" Hitler certainly shaped Germany and WWII at the time, but he certainly did not cause all of it. There were hundreds of men who felt dispondent after WWI, just like Hitler. Hitler joined the DAP like hundreds of other men. Any one of them could have taken over and created the NSDAP. WWII is the RESULT of other issues Germany had to deal with, not the cause. Historians can trace the troubles back for centuries. A study of history in Modern Germany will show you that Otto Von Bismark laid the groundwork for WWI twenty years before it ever broke out, and the effects of WWI are a direct cause of the attitude that caused WWII.

There are many ways to answer this question, but they all end in the same result. There would more than likely still have been WWII, still have been a Holocaust. We would just be talking about a different person, and not Hitler. Also, it is more than likely that even if he had been accepted into art school, he would still have been a member of the DAP, he would still have done everything he did in his life, only he would have some pretty paintings in a gallery somewhere.

Even worse, as we would have likely lost WWII.

Hitler was not the cause of WWII, nor was he the primary force of what drove the Nazi movement. He was chosen for that role because of his personality and ability to draw people to him. But, ultimately, he was a product of his time. If it was not for him than it would have been someone else, perhaps some less crazy, who would have given his generals more of an open hand.

There has been some good programs on the History Channel about this. German solders felt betrayed at the end of WWI. They had been told they were winning, than suddenly they surrendered. Worse, it was a civilian, not military, contingent who offered the surrender. While solder fought on the front lines, they did not know that German civilians were rioting at home over the war. They wanted it stopped. Since there was no radio and very limit wired communications, the solders only knew what their commanders were telling them, which was that they were winning. They didn't even know what was happening in the next valley or hill. If they were being driven back, they were told everyone else was advancing.

It was the German people, civilians, which brought about the end of the war, but how were they treated for that. They were starved by the very countries they wanted to make peace with.

More than anything, America and all the other countries that fought against the Germans were the cause of WWII. We created the circumstances that created Hitler and the Nazis.

My sincere belief is that he would still have become the revolutionary he became in the 1930s. As an artist the Great Depression would still have affected him, and his nascent hatred of the Jews would have found expression somehow. I recognize that his position in the army after the Great War enabled him to first investigate then join the Nazi Party, and believe that the seeds of the Third Reich would not have been stopped by his being an artist. Also, my *** could be sucking wind, and he might not ever have been so inclined. Perhaps in an alternate universe there never was a Third Reich, who knows?

Germany would most likely not exist. After WWI the allied nations were sucking Germany dry economically which led them to begin WWII as a last ditch effort for survival.

If Hitler did not have his role in history either someone else would have stopped what was happening and started a war (Europe was still unstable before WWII) or Germany would have died away.

Historians don't answer "what if" questions.

As to Hitler's artistic skills, he could only paint landscapes and was therefore considered useless.

If you see World War Two as impossible without Hitler you could argue that it would not have happened, but I think that's a naive understanding of why World War Two happened. It was not because of Hitler, but a number of other reasons including, but not limited to, the Treaty of Versailles, other economic factors, and the simple fact that Germany was not conquered in WWI. To many Germans it seemed like they could have won, but some cowardly generals gave up on enemy turf.

But all of that aside, I'd still like to have one of Hitler's paintings. That'd be a conversation piece, wouldn't it?

it would have made little distinction, Hitler exchange into prepared with regard to the assumption of entering international conflict One or maybe petitioned the King to be allowed to connect a Bavarian regiment. This exchange into properly after his rejection from paintings college which he had tried to get into two times. It exchange into in basic terms after international conflict one that Hitler have been given in touch with the severe top wing communities whom propagated antisemitic rubbish and all started out his political profession. The loss of worldwide conflict One left an limitless quantity of the German public from all classes very bitter as they convincingly believed they have been dealt a 'dying blow' from the suggestions taken on the 'Treaty of Versailles' after the conflict and this finally brought about international conflict 2

i still believe WW2 would still happen because somebody else would have blamed the jewish people for ruining their country. remember though almost right after WW1 they used the jews as scapegoats, so either there would have been more deaths or less.
more probably better ruler who could have held off the americans longer and won't attack russia for a long time. or they would have surrendered sooner.

and hitler might have painted art work about the ruler

Someone else, just as crazy as he was, would have done something very similar to what he did.
He did not invent much. The premises for what was going to happen were already there. He saw his chance and jumped on it.
So would have done someone else if he hadn't got there first.
Unfortunately, the horror of 2nd WW was not the fault of one man, but of us all (intending: our fathers and grandfathers) - well, the germans a bit more than the rest...

Well it would probably have stopped World War 2 from ever happening. And maybe he could have published some fine art instead of causing death and misery to the world.
