Once upon a time, American-made cars embodied a vigorous national confidence. They were enormous chunks of muscular metal and chrome with jukebox-like dashboards and dangerously-sharp tailfins. Bold and flashy, they commanded respect on the highway.

These days, forget about respect. American cars are singled out for their lack of exciting designs, poor quality and meager fuel efficiency. Many American consumers began to choose Toyotas over Chryslers years ago.

Because a lot of the right coast tree huggers got into jobs where what they said meant something, and some were even elected to congress where they passed laws making the auto manufacturer meet certain requirements as the mileage and smog. As a result of that, all cars today are made of plastic and they all look the same because of aerodynamics.

because american cars have no standards anymore. our fuel efficiency standards are very low, so that's why american cars cant be sold in china, but chinese cars can be sold here. also, if you think about it, the more material it takes to make a car, the more factories it takes to make a car (increasing the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, harming the ozone). plus, cars today, while they don't "command respect on the highway", they are much safer than those cars.

I trust the final answer. I might desire to admit that the country makes the main ideal autos on the exterior, like the ford mustang and ward off charger, yet they are crap on the interior, theyre glued with bubble gum. If GM, ford and chrysler might make such stable autos like toyota, honda or nissan, theyd be out of company and identity purchase an american automobile, yet they dont. maximum folk purchase american autos out of blind patriotism, whether the motor vehicle spends extra time being repaired than on the line. My father had many american autos and that they have got been all junk. devoid of buying the motor vehicle, you already sense if its stable or no longer. individuals autos suck so undesirable by way of fact they dont understand a thank you to make stable autos like toyota, they might desire to learn from the massive boys and identity fortuitously purchase an american automobile. American automobiles made the worst autos in the international! Mercury, saturn, hummer, pontiac, oldsmobile, plymomouth have all long previous kaput.

*Chuckles* OK, so what is an american made car?

Toyotas are made in Tennesse.

Fords have Mitsubutisi engines in them.

Jaguar's are now made by Ford.

Chryslers have Diahatsu motors with Hyundai transmissions.

So, follow the money paths- there hasn't been a 100% american made car since the 1970's.
