Your question is highly improbable, but lets say that the rest of the UN kicked John Bolton out of the room, and everyone started cataloging the abuses that the Bush Administration had delt to the middle east and human rights, and in a frenzy of emotion, decided that everyone would simultaneously declare war on the USA.

Any conventional war pitting populations of 300 million against populations of more than six billion, the 300 million is going to lose, even if it has the best equipped and most powerful military in the world.

If the whole world declared war against the USA, I think that the USA would probably sue for peace and ask for terms. If those terms were to do things like (i) remove the current administration (ii) stop invading countries that have not attacked the USA, (iii) stop holding detainees indefinitely without charging them for anything, (iv) stop torturing detainees, (v) get out of Iraq and similar reasonable requests, then the US would probably surrender under those terms and Congress would impeach Bush and Cheney.

If the world was, for some reason, just hell bent on destroying the US. Then the US would give a good account of itself. However, it would still lose a conventional war, but it would take a long time for the world to marshall enough forces in Canada and Mexico to successfully invade and conquer the US (and it is quite possible that the US would quickly overrun Canada and Mexico to prevent such a staging area, but it is unlikely that the US could take the entire western hemishere quickly enough). The US would probably enjoy air and sea superiority for the first part of the war, and many foreign capitals would be fire-bombed into non-existence. But eventually, the rest of the world would out-produce us.

There would be a lot of discussion in the US, prior to its invasion and in the face its defeat, of whether to go nuclear. I don't know what the answer to that would be. If the US went nuclear, it could result in the mutally assured destruction of civilization as we know it. If the US went down fighting without using its nukes, then human civilization would survive.

Majority of the world versus America?
I have an annoying feeling America would still triumph, but no realisticly the majority rules.

Why? Hmm. The fundamentalists took over America and we decided to take them out...? No is that too much to hope for?

Ok how about, China over-takes America as the number one super power (it's going to happen) Of course the American's are all 'Oh no a communist country has just over-taken us!?!' So they do what they did with the russians...Nuclear bomb time!

Only the majority of the world decide to stop them before another Cold war ensues...

That a bit more realistic?
Don't really get the point of the question, but it is ammusing.

First of all, we probably won't need to imagine it for very longer the way the American government keeps making trouble. However America will lose, I don't know why Americans brag so much about being a super power. There are other countries with similiar or at least close enough strength. Plus American soldiers are essentially mercenaries, their hearts wouldn't be in it. The other countries like Japan in WWII would go to any measure to get the job done.

America would attack Iran Syria or North Korea in a preemptive strike. China and Russia would become involved against the US eventually because their own selfish interests would need to served The war would be fierce and it wouldn't matter who would win because after a war like this the country's that fought in it would never look or be the same again everything would change

I really cannot come up with reason why the "rest of the world" that is SO divided between each other would all of the sudden UNITE and fight America.
But if they did -- they would eventually win, because if America is cut of from foreign trade it will experience sever shortage of resources, in particular -- OIL. Then economy will collapse, and then it would be invaded. Invasion would be easy. The rest of the world can mass troops in Canada and Mexico and strike, blitzkrieg style on both sides, carving up US in a matter of weeks.

The cause would be America's upper-classes declining into a self-contained, fenced off decadence, the military starting to question the government's motives, and an inexorable building of outside forces determined to overthrow what they see as the an Imperial Power imposing its values on the rest of the world.

America will win because it will build an enormous starship and fire neutron bombs and laser beams onto its enemies.

America would win cause they have Chuck Norris, he would roundhouse kick all the opposing armies to death.
Causes of it happening I can't see it in all reality happening, and if a large scale war were to start and Amrica was losing I'd expect it would go nuclear, they have more than enough weapons to deploy an the means to deploy them.

This is a stupid question. America would have to abandoned by it's allies and that is highly unlikely, so long as it democratic nation. Lets be realistic conventional warfare or not, if the USA was going down they would take everyone with them, by launching every weapon in their nuclear arsenal.

the answer is obivious. with its huge advantage in technology, the US will put up a fight, practically destroying most of the world, however without nukes it could not overcome 5.7 billion enemies. out of the ashes, new radical far left and far right goverments will form. they will annilate each other, this time using nukes. leaving the earth a barren wasteland from which civilization will have to grow from again. WAR WITH AMERICA!

I agree with the comment on capitalism (and thus greed); a feeling of superiority over other nations. It might be led by China, Korea or Middle Eastern nations. Or, as bad as America is doing, it might be civil war.
