What do you mean? Refinishing wooden furniture is pretty much the same as any other rework such as gunstocks. Strip down to the bare wood, fill in the voids with putty, restain or oil as required. If its a chair, you've already got it stripped so now is the time to re-upluster the seat right?

that depends on what type of furniture? If its wood it also depends on what was on beforehand, Varnish?.. yes you would have to start from scratch i.e. strip it all of sand it back and go from there. water based paint or whit washed?... no you can just rough up the surface and repaint and make it all look new!
