If you happen to have oily eyelids, liquid eyeliner can pose a problem because it will bleed. Pencil eyeliners will smudge if you have excess oil, but not as much as liquid. So it depends: if you don't have a problem with oily skin then are you skilled with drawing on your eyelids? If you have shaky hands, then a pencil would be best; it offers a forgiving smudge factor. If you are decent, however, eyeliner is the superior type for overall drama, and durability throughout the day (or night.)

It really depends on what type of look you like. I prefer to use a pencil because I like to smudge it a little and make my eyeliner a little more subtle. I also have dark brown eyes and long eyelashes. I use Almay's eyeliner and eyeshadow for brown eyes. It's a purple eyeliner pencil. (It doesn't look bright purple when you put it on, it just brightens brown eyes). I feel as though liquid eyeliners are a little too stark. Also, if you don't have a super steady hand and you make a wiggly line, it's harder to fix without taking the eyeliner completely off and reapplying.

I always use liquid eyeliner because I like the way it easily glides on. However, if you're going for more of a natural look, rather than a dramatic look, go for the pencil. Liquid eyeliner can get messy, so make sure to wipe off mistakes quickly before it dries.

Liquid eyeliner is really hard to use until you get the hang of it, especially if you have long eyelashes... I like pencil eyeliner because it's easier to control with long eyelashes... and if you don't want the solid line, you can just smudge it a little with a Q-tip or your pinky after you put it on to soften it a bit.

This is going to sound strange but try a gel ink pen. I have used both liquid and pencil. With the gel pen you get the dramatic look of a liquid with the ease of a pencil. Plus you can get it in a lot of colors including metallics

I use a pencil but that's just me. I think it really depends on the look you're going for. Actually I have never tried liquid so I'm not gonna be of much help here

Try Lancome's artliner! It is a liquid, but has a stiff felt tip for ease of application. Pencils are great if they are soft...to hard and it pulls on the delicate skin around the eye. It comes down to a preference...try them both...see which one looks best and works best for you

Liquid; it gives you a non messy, more dramatic look to your face. But, have you ever considered mechanical? It has the look of liquid, but the touch and feel of pencil. It's easy to apply, totally practical whenever and wherever, and totally sweet. So, I suggest giving mechanical a try, and see how you like it.

Use a pencil... soft kohl that twists up instead of one you have to sharpen. It's not hard on the skin around your eyes and gives a wonderful, easy to use look. Liquid often looks harsh and fake. I only reccommend using it on the very outer corners of your eyes to bring them out a bit, and that particular look is generally only for night looks. Good luck!

It depends on the occasion. for daytime, use a pencil. liquid eyeliner should only be used for nighttime events, it's very dramatic.
