I bet there is someone out there who's rich and is afraid of bats who will become Batman in the future. All I'm asking is do you think the same.

Sure if a man is brave enough and rich enough Batman could be real. But the man would have to be traumatized as a kid by bat or something else

Batman is not a super hero he is a crime fighter. he is highly intelligent, in great physical shape and trained extremely well in the martial arts plus the billions of dollars he has helps. If you have seen Batman begins you may not know but the gadgets he used in the movie were based on things that the military is or was experiment with. taking all that into account someone probably could not do it to the level that Batman did it and probably could not go for a long time with out people figuring out who he is.

Josh, I'm glad you put that as 'can be real', instead of 'is real'. If you had used the latter, then you are a definitely due for a stay in Arkham Asylum, which is also fictional. Say hi to the Joker for me!
When Bob Kane created Batman, he wanted a hero with no superpowers, but had honed his detective and physical skills to the Nth degree. Other fictional characters, such as Zorro and Sherlock Holmes were the basis for Kane's creation. Add to the mix that he was a millionare, traumatised by witnessing his parents' death, and had a lot of time on his hands, and you get the Dark Night.
Batman is portrayed as a vigilante, that is he works outside of the law, which has a tendency to get in the way of his methods of bringing the guilty to justice. Doesn't make him too popular with the cops!
As to if, under the proper circumstances, he 'could' exist, I would say not likely, at least not under the fantastic circumstances where he exists in the DC universe. However, vigilantes did and still do exist, meting out their own form of justice to those who deserve it, be they right or wrong. Vigilantism was quite prevelant during the early days of America's Old West, and still is popularised in movie form, such as the 'Death Wish' series.
Check the papers, and draw your own conspiracies, er, conclusions.
Could Batman exist? I hate to waffle, but I gotta say maybe, but never in the form you're familiar with.
Alfred, another drink please!

If you have ever dressed up as Batman (hopefully for halloween) you'd realize the mask is extremely disabling. You actually lose your peripheal vision, which makes it next to impossible to move with any degree of accuracy.

Likewise, the costumes in the movies weighed 40-70 pounds. A lightweight fire-proof and bullet proof costume would be necessary to have any mobility.

The gadgets are cool, and typically realistic. however, one's accuracy is required for allowing the cables to attach to roofs. And, amazingly, there's always something to catch the batarang cables and ropes. Even in the early theatrical serials, the ropes would magically capable of catching the ropes.

We live in the day of DNA and facial recognition. It'd be impossible for one to hide their secret identity. And, if thats not enough, there's always the papazzi, who would follow him to his "batcave". It wouldnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that on the other side of the cave, is his home.

The Tumbler, in Batman Begins is capable of doing what was shown in the movie. That was their entire point of that batmobile. But, it has to be licensed; and, they did have to block off several city blocks to get it to do what it did.

Im a huge fan of Batman; but, I am also realistic. And, while I love the comics and movies, I'd be scared to death of a real person who took the law into their own hands, esp. in such a manner as this. Not to mention, Bruce Wayne has some real psychological issues. He suffers from Post Traumatic Disorder Syndrome, Multiple Personality Disorder, not to mentione, what drives Batman is revenge. In a world of make believe, its way cool. In reality, it'd be scarey.

The fact that Batman doesn't have any superpowers, and that we have such a great breakthrough in technology, it is at least possible to have Batman gadgets. And then hopefully a real Batman and real villains show up.

I don't agree with the asker's particular vision, but I will concede that it's possible for a capable, gifted, independently wealthy, and well connected person to go forth into the night once in a while and put the fear of the almighty into a few of the riffraff. It might be less possible to maintain total cover these days tho.

It is highly possible...and in the currently changing political climate....such people will even become necessary...although I think it may be more likely that these people will stand against the tyranny of an oppressive, dictatorial government that has gond over the line and is out of control than simply chasing common criminals....

Maybe. Batman never really had real "superpowers". He just used gadgets. So if they ever invent those types of things then heck yeah it could happen.
