Only if you deactivate the Vodofone phone, you can do this online, you get given a code which unblocks the phone. You can then use the phone with any sim. Usually about £15. Vodafone will give u the code, or there are many unlocking sites.

I did exactly this just last week with a Nokia phone, originally registered with Vodafone. My new O2 SIM card worked find in it without any need to "unlock". I guess it depends.

Where did you get your Vodafone? If you can find out where you got it, you can call the company to see if it can take a o2 simcard, otherwise I probably wouldn't recommend you putting that card in your phone. The power in that card might damage it.

from personal experiance it depends on the phone i have a samsung T100 and a moterola 360 both from my voderfone contract i also have an o2 pay as you go sim, and with out unblocking eather phone the o2 works in the samsung and not the moterola and the voderfone works in both so all i can say with out having the phone unblocked wich often voids garantees and inshurance, test it forst with a friends o2 chip failing that pick up a cheep second hand o2 handset and have a backup phone ia i have in my samsung

You can, but it the phone won't work. Before you switch providers call vodaphone and tell them you are traveling to the US and want to buy a prepaid sim to use while there and request the unlock code. They should give you the code or send the unlock code to your phone for free.

Yes you can use any sim card,on any phone, so long as you get it 'unlocked' 1st. Any mobile shop will do this for you for about £5

Yes. But you need to contact the maker of the phone to get the unlock code/instructions.
