an hour per drink depending on the size of the "drink" it may take 12-24 hours to flush it out of your blood stream
but
it will take another 12-24 hours to get the effects off of your brain,

Both of these things can have long lasting effects.
If you get in to an accident drunk you can have a very long, possibly life lasting effect.
The same thing with smoking, you can end up dead from it.
That is a pretty long lasting effect I would say.

Half a pint of beer, a small measure of spirits, or a medium glass of wine is equal to one unit. It takes almost an hour for the body to rid itself of one unit.

Smoking, if and when you give it up, remains in the body for 7 days, but in the mind for much longer...............
