I have a knot on the back of my head about one inch long and 1/2 inch wide, it sticks out about 1/4 of an inch, (it is about 1 inch from my ear and about 1 1/2 inchs from the bottom of my head.) The knot appeared 4 days ago and is painful and it keeps getting worse, I am having some dizziness with it and unstableness also I have had 2 headaches over the last four days but they are not bad and only last about 30 mins each. Now yesterday afternoon I started getting a stiff neck that is getting worse as the hours pass all of this is going on, on the left side the knot and the stiffness. Now this morning I wake up and I have a sore throat just on the left side I think it might be sinuses but am very worried about the knot I have never had one to jus pop up like this. I have used ice to try to take down the swelliing and I have been taking Ibprofen 800 every 6 hours for the pain and inflammation. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I have not hit my head on anything!!! Thanks

youve cooked up an infection of some kind, maybe in the middle ear, sinus, or throat..the "knot" is prob a lymph node. use your own judgement as to what to do, see a doc for instance.

If were going to play worse case scenario Meningitis can cause headaches and a stiff neck. One test that indicates (not 100% though) is lay down on your back. have someone put their hand behind your head and pull your head towards your chest, and then with the other hand push down on your sternum(breast bone) This test is called the Soto-Hall test. If you have Meningeal irritation it should be pain full(but the pain can be cause by other things too fractures, strains, sprains etc.). if there is involuntary flexion of lower limbs go to the ER you don't want to mess around with Meningitis.
