(9x-4)^2=56
Take square roots
9x - 4 = ±√(56)
9x = 4 ± √(4 x 14)
x = (4 ± 2√(14)/9
≈ 1.2759, -0.3870

2006-10-22 09:51:45 · answer #1 · answered by Wal C 6 · 0 0

9x - 4 = sqrt(56)
9x - 4 = 2*sqrt(14)
9x = 2*sqrt(14) + 4
x = (2*sqrt(14) + 4)/9
x = 1.2759238637275425301297219405148

(9x - 4)^2 = 56
9x - 4 = ±sqrt(56)
9x - 4 = ±sqrt(4 * 14)
9x = 4 ± 2sqrt(14)
x = (1/9)(4 ± 2sqrt(14))

ANS :
x = (2/9)(2 + sqrt(14)) or (2/9)(2 - sqrt(14))

2006-10-22 17:17:01 · answer #3 · answered by Sherman81 6 · 0 0

(9x-4)^2 = 56
9x-4 = sqrt(56) = sqrt(4*14) = sqrt(4)sqrt(14) = 2sqrt(14)
9x = 2sqrt(14) + 4
x = 2(sqrt(14) + 2)/9 = 1.28 (2 decimal places)

2006-10-22 16:01:58 · answer #4 · answered by ? 7 · 0 0

9x-4 = sqrt(56)
9x = sqrt(56)+4
x = (sqrt(56)+4)/9
