This was said by Craig Washington:

"I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag."

I think that really sums it up for me. Anyone else agree with this?

Okay, let's see if I can set some of you straight...

I have never burned the American flag in my life. And I never will. Just like many of you, seeing someone burn the American flag angers me in ways I can't describe. But just because I don't like it doesn't mean we're entitled to ban it. Because it's protected free speech.

And also this: if you own that particular flag, then you have all the rights to that property, including destroying it. A flag-burning ban basically says that the government is telling you what you're not allowed to do with your own property.

I DON'T support flag-burning. I simply believe that no matter what we think of it, it should remain a protected right.

I agree. Huey Long said "If fascism ever comes to America, it will come wrapped in an American flag." I believe that we can be blinded by patriotism and forget what the Consitution means.
Our flag is a symbol of freedom and if someone burns it, our freedom is still there! If our constitution is altered/burned, our freedoms have changed.
