I used Spy Sweeper for a year and thought it was fairly good. Until my computer started acting up and I found nothing. I then moved to Spyware Doctor and find that it does a far better job. Spyware Doctor will typically pick up everying --- including some Trojans. When dealing with Trojans a good antivirus is needed (which is generally considered as Kaspersky these days).

Yes it works very well from my experiance. I haven't tried very many types of spy ware but haven't had any problems with spy sweeper. Here is a link for a free version of ad-aware that also works very well for adware and has also found trojan horses on my computer.http://www.lavasoft.com/download_and_buy/product_comparison_chart.php There is also a good free down load at safer-networking.org for Spybot so far it seems to wrk good for me. Hope this helps

In what little spare time I have, I test antispyware/antivirus program to see if they work as claimed.

Found that "webroot", caused problems with all Microsoft platforms including Windows XP Prof. Plus there were far to may false/positive found. Many times the program would not scan.

If you want a really true state of the art technology that is far superior then any antispyware program that you must pay for go to: http://www.superantispyware.com (This company is out of Eugene, Oregon). Download their free version as the only difference between the free is and the paid version is you have to update manual and the usually update two times per day.

This program scans all 175,000 objects in my system, including compressed files, favorites. Plus it will never give you a false/positive. Never had any spyware in over nine years.

They will give you any new version with an automatic update. Just for the core signature updates related to the spyware, you perform this on a manual basis.

Some one recommend that you use from http://www.lavasoft.com their free Ad-adware Se Personal. They were the very first spyware company out there, before any one ever thought about spyware.

According to the expert on http://www.zdnet.com they have gone down hill with detection ability.

I would also suggest you protect yourself from what is known as "zero day attacks". (This is spyware/viruses written before an antispyware company or antivirus company can come out with a signature for the spyware or virus). If you want this protection an I use this software in my two pc's it is free: Go to: http://www.cyberhawk.com Download their software and this program will pop up any time you download a program that has behavor that is not common in any software program. You will be asked if you really trust this software or do you wish to abort.

This is your own personal decision based on the data that Cyberhawk will give you about the software.

Hope the above has been of some help to you.

If those are the only things you want, you need BOTH. One's an excellent antispyware and the other takes care of VIRUSES. You need about 1 of each. ONLY 1 AV, 2-4 A.S. But I like Kaspersky, F-secure, or Bitdefender WAY better alongside Spy Sweeper.

No, I had it for a while and it gave me more spyware than previously had! If you want to use the good version go to Wal Mart and buy the disk. Grandpa did and it works pretty good.
