i took u.s. history 2 last semester, and i read someplace that the first real gun control laws (in the u.s.) were to curb blacks from owning guns, with one of the laws stating that the only make of gun a black person could own was one made by colt, which at the time would have been far too expensive for an ex-slave to own. i'm taking english 2 this semester, i'm doing a research paper on gun control, and need a citation for that statement, i already checked wikipedia.

That's one I wasn't aware of, though there were once all kinds of weird race laws.
