You have to want it as bad, as you need it !! And I would highly recommend, buying yourself some hard candy, or a bag of mini red delicious apples to replace, the "Hand-Mouth" habit. Not only will the apples keep your hands busy, but, they will also clean the tar & nicotine off of your teeth, from when you "Use to smoke"! Past tense, here! And keep very busy,, those first three days, dont leave anything, that will remind you, of smoking lying around the house, and just get out alot !! Everytime you think about a smoke, go take a long walk, or go run an errand, and that will take your mind off of smoking. If you can successfully get past the first 3 days, then you've got it beat.. the rest of the days following are all up to you, psychologically.. You have to retrain your life, of going without smoking. Before, you quit, I'd go and wash all of your clothing, and spray your car, with those car sprays, that get rid of strong odors, and if you smoked in your home, spray it, the day, you quit, so you will not have any memory, of your smoking, to help you with the whole temptation thing. And once, you get past the first week or so, just program yourself to read, or anything whenever those old urges, come back, from time to time... And eventually you will begin, to receive the benefits, of tasting food, better, of smelling better, of actually smelling your own perfume, and, other pleasant smells, again. And begin to receive all the Blessings of being a "Non-Smoker!" Good-Luck, to you! I still smoke, but I've quit many times before, and I know, how wonderful all of the above methods are for helping you to quit..

Cold Turkey and stay away from smokers. Will power and courage if you truly want to quit. Its extremely hard and not easy. I was a smoker and I don't want to go back period. I don't ask everyone around me you smoke you don't smoke that's annoying. If you don't like smoke stay away from it. Don't be a pain in the *** and say to a person who quit I never smoked that's not encouraging. I don't accept teasers.

Cold turkey. Stick the money you would have spent on cigarettes in a jar. Keep chewing gum or something else to chew on when you need to put something in your mouth. Start an exercise program and take up a hobby to keep your mind off the tobacco.

Good luck!

What I did was just STOP, put the money I was spending
for them in a separate area. And I went on a cruise and
had a 'great' time, and have been doing the money thing ever
since.

And, I sure have been on a lot of wonderful trips.

I did it , so can you!!

Buy the patches, seek loads of internet information and advice and call one of those free give up smoking hotlines. :) Plus find something that interests you to keep your mind busy.

Truely wanting to stop is the best way to stop. Then once you have commited yourself try the patch or gum or anything to make yourself stick to it.
