Actually, it IS quite possible. You'll want to read this: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-35.html

Basically, Outlook is a desktop software that let's you read any mail service. However, the mail service must allow you to connect to it using something called POP. Yahoo mail only allows you to connect to their mail service using a web browser, unless you buy their premium mail service, in which case you can use Outlook or another mail client software.

This is not possible as yahoo and Microsoft are 2 different IT companies. Outlook is based on Microsoft .
