I'd like to let it down, but each time I look down or bend my head all the hair just falls and blocks my view. And, I'm fed up of using my hands to move it everytime.
My hair is kinda coarse and voluminous, anyway, but I was hoping to use gel or a leave-in conditioner to tone the frizzies down. But, I'm afraid of all that product getting into my face via my ever getting-in-the-way hair!

try doing a deep part to one side, this will allow longer hair on one side of your face and blance it out with a pin or hair barette of some sort on the other side. Headbands also are a great alternative or consider using some sort or hair wax to keep your hairs more wieghed down.

I have the same problem. I pull the loose part around my face into a small ponytail on top of my head, or use small barrettes that match my hair color to pull it away from my face.
With coarse, thick hair, the product doesn't do much but weight it down.

There are many solutions to your problem:
1. Put your hair up. It doesnt have to be in a ponytail, it can be half up/half down or braided or something.
2. Use a product that isnt too sticky or gross
3. Use hair clips to clip loose parts back
4. Use bobby pins to clip loose parts back
5. Talk to a hair stylist

You can get some pretty hair clips and barrets, or wear a bandana around your head. It looks attractive, at least to me. You can get these things at a grocery store, or a specialty hair product store.

I hate whilst that happens, yet I do get dogs hairs caught to my face each and every so often and it takes me a jiffy to actual get it off in view that they are not incredibly basic to snatch. it would desire to be the hairs on your face are gentle.

Either get it cut so it won't get into your eyes, or use lots of hair spray.
