Here's the deal: I'm planning to tryout for lineman in my sophmore year in high school. Here's the problem: I have little knowledge about football and I'm a little out of shape (I gonna train 10 months prior the tryouts)

Go for it linemen dont need to no that much. i played football this year for the first time too at wide reciever and it was a lot more to learn than linemen. especially if u got 10 months go for it.

As a sophomore, you still have a lot of growing to do, and coaches know that. You should definitely try out and let the coaches give you an opinion of what they think. Most coaches will at least keep you around on the bench and let you work out with the team in the hopes that you will develop into a better player. Almost all coaches are looking for better players, so they will definitely take a look at you.

I made 3rd string DB my sophomore year on my school's JV team, after I came about 4 months late and had never played before. I quit soon after the season started because I joined the lacrosse team, but I found out if I would've stayed on, I would've started. Then again, the JV team hasn't won a game in three years, so take that as you will.

very little unless your football team sucks and they desperately need people.
