I went with a cousin before and we did not stay at one of the big name places. I went to Caesar's and loved the shopping so I was considering staying there. My husband and I are light gamblers (maybe take $300 each to play) and we do like to shop. But I would like a place with a really nice room and spa services, and maybe a place that's romantic. I want to plan a trip for 3-4 nights. (Don't wanna go broke!!) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the very nicest rooms are at the Venetian because they are all suites. My second choice would be Bellagio.

But for location my choice is anything in the area of Bellagio, Bally's and Caesar's. Even Paris would be a great location.

We always rent a car but it's still nice to be in the center of things so you can walk to most places. We generally choose Bally's because it's easy to get in and out of and don't go during the time of year when we'd want to use a pool. The remodeled rooms are great and we generally get a view of the Bellagio fountains.

Since you're staying a number of days you'll probably spend time at several different hotels for dining and gambling so I'd definitely choose based on location.

If you want to spend a whole lot of time around the pool I'd opt for Mandalay Bay because of the wave pool, raft area, etc. but it's on the far end of the strip and a hassle to travel from. It's also so huge that walking from area to another can take almost 30 minutes. From the tram stop at the hotel to the shark exhibit takes about that long.

We're like you and take along the same amount of money for gambling. Make sure you hit the outlet malls but it'll be terribly hot to walk around outside.

Whatever you do DON'T use a travel agent. Going in July means you can get super terrific bargains because of the high temperatures. That's off season in Vegas. Do it yourself directly with each hotel either on-line or by phone. You don't need a second party making money off of you. Make sure you ask for the L.A. discount that most people don't know about. Call each airline for the best rates. We have never found a package deal that compares to what we can find on our own. And if you're staying more than three full days you're better off renting a car than buying the monorail passes.

To truly answer your question, your age and budget are important. If money is no object and you're over 40... Bellagio, period.

If money is an object, Monte Carlo or MGM. They are both clean and comfortable for a decent price. And both have outstanding spas. MGM even has a promotion right now that runs through October '07 called Maximum Escape that offers 2 for 1 spa admission.

If you're in the 25 to 40 age group and willing to spend a bit more for a room, try the Hard Rock Hotel. It's not on the strip but their casino is a blast.

Love to shop, eh? The Forum Shops at Caesar's have gained a lot of competition over the last decade. There are several in the Strip area. The shops at Venetian (high end) and the shops at Aladdin. Although the Forum shops are still my favorite, I find that the Aladdin shops have a larger number of affordable stores inside.

My overall recommendation? Monte Carlo. Since you're going in July, its going to be HOT! Its in a good location and you won't have to spend a lot of time outside to get from place to place. They even have an air conditioned monorail to Bellagio that you'll never even have to step outside to board.

Have fun... and happy anniversary!

My husband and I have tried numerous hotels in Vegas for the "romantic getaways". Below is what we prefer. July is during the Vegas "busy" season so I would suggest MGM because it will be cheaper.

The Venetian - gondolas inside and outside, they recently expanded their hotel, shopping, spa (Canyon Ranch SpaClub) is fabulous as is the staff. Same end of the strip as Caesars. Dining is unique (Tao is beautiful, dark, yet cozy, try AquaKnox if you like seafood). This hotel does get pricey in the "busy" season.

MGM Grand - farther down the strip and a rather large hotel. Ask for champagne and strawberries (if you enjoy them both of course) upon check-in. They will have your room prepped for a romantic experience. Their spa offers treatments at the spa or you can get massages in your room. My husband and I indulged in the in-room massages and found them to be so relaxing. MGM is located closer to the airport and Luxor, NYNY are both within walking distance. MGM also has a stop on the monorail so you don't have to walk all the way down to where Caesars is located. They have numerous amounts of restaurants on-site.

Caesars Palace is the original LV resort and the new tower rooms are beautiful.Of course the Forum Shops offer lots of activity.
If you are looking for romance, try the Bellagio or the Venetian !!
Also, the new Wynn resort is quite elegant (owned by Bellagios original owner)
I love the gambling action at Caesars and the pools are also a great place to spend time.

I heard the Wynn is the place to go for a romantic stay in vegas??

Wynn is the single best mega-resort in town. Wynn is actually made up of almost two seperate hotels in one building. On the south end of the sweeping tower, is what is refered to as the "Tower Side" This area is made up with about 600 suiets. This is where all the VIP and most of the high-rollers stay. This area has its own entrance, check-in, elevators, and pools.

The north side of the hotel is the "Resort Side" The resort side, is made up of 2100 "Standard" guest rooms. But don't let the word "Standard" fool you. These are by far, the single nicest standard rooms in town, complete with flat panel tv's in both the main bedroom, and the bathroom as well. All of the windows are floor to celing. There are three phones in this room, and the bath includes both a seperate shower, and large oversized tub. One of my favorite features is the power curtains, at the push of a button, you can open or close the shades, to make your room, as light or dark as you desire.

The pool at Wynn is one of the nicest in Las Vegas. There is gambling on the pool deck, which is hard to find in Vegas. And there is also an "adult" (topless) pool in this area as well.

The casino at Wynn is amazing, its simply beautiful. As is the rest of the common area. The shopping is nice, but most of it is VERY high end, and out of the average person's budget. Lastly the resturtants are the best of all. Many of these places offer both indoor, and outdoor seating. Some overlook the lake in the front of the hotel, while others overlook the golf course, which is breathtaking.

For an anniversary I would stay at Wynn or Bellagio. The rooms at Wynn are fabulous ... nice big beds with down comforters, flat screen tv, desk, love seat, table with 2 chairs looking out the window, big bathroom with soaking tub, glass shower, two sinks and the toilet is in a room by itself, plus there is a flat screen tv in the bathroom. The swimming pool is really nice, and it also has a European pool. The location is pretty good since it is close to TI, Mirage, Venetian, etc.

Bellagio is really nice also and more in the center of the strip. The pool there is nice, too. I guess my decision would be the cost.

If you're going for a romantic vacation, The Venetian is the best place to stay. All of the rooms are suites and the bathrooms are oversized. The service is top notch, and it's got great shopping, great restaurants, and the gondola ride is fun and romantic.

Personally, I love the Venetian. The entire staff treats you as though you are their most important guest and the rooms are beautiful (all suites). I arranged for a cake and champagne to be delivered to our room for my husband's birthday last year and they even wrote his name on the cake. I didn't make it to the spa but the salon was really good. The Venetian is romantic with the gondolas and the luxurious rooms and there's the Grand Canal Shoppes attached. You may be able to get really great deals for July in mid May or earlier. I agree with one of your other responders, a travel agent may be a good idea (it won't cost you anything).

Ummm the Bellagio or the Venetian might be a bit expensive, but I would look into staying somewhere on the middle of the strip...just because it is really hard to walk from one side to another. I would say Paris, New York New York or Ceasars.
