Colds are caused by a virus. However, you might be more susceptible due to lowered resistance or immunity. Take more vitamin C, echinacea and zinc. Meanwhile, stay away from crowds or from people who have colds. Wash your hands frequently with antibacterial soap whenever you've handled anything from people with colds. Finally, make sure that it really is a cold and not an allergy. When you blow your nose, if the discharge is yellow or greenish, it's an infection. If the mucus is clear, then it's probably an allergy. Check with your doctor, which is a good idea anyway. He or she can help with preventative measures.

As a naturopath we believe 70 % of the bodies immune system is gut based. So by that rational you need an indicans test, find out how your level of dysbiosis and take it from there. take a muti-vitamin every day drink 2 litres of filter water, get on a blood group diet within the parameters of the insulin zone diet, suppliments like echinachea, astragalis (not for acute conditions though), or products that will help balance your T -helper 1/2 ratio may be indicated...either way you need your case taken...you cant just take some suppliments and see a major change as alots of people on here suggest.

Your immune system could be low and need to recharge with more vitamin C. Stress could rob you of that vitamin, and/or overworking and not resting enough. A good health check up wouldn't hurt none, and could address your concerns. In the meanwhile, keep your meals healthy ones and add a glass or orange juice to your menu for awhile, hope that helps, good luck!
