I am so pleased to find another Michael Schumacher fan. I fell under his spell thanks to Murray Walker's commentary '23 years old... twen-ty three years old!' He was so overawed by this potential driving genius, and he was right.
Michael was so determined, so ambitious, so loved racing. Loved it when he had to come from behind, perservered against all odds. Broke his legs but was determined to be back as soon as he could.
Went to Ferrari when it was an also ran team and helped to build it up to where it became with him. Every victory was a win for the team, it was never 'see how glorious I am?' it was always 'great job, team.'
I am not oblivious to the darker moments but I have always felt, nonetheless, a fan. I have loved to witness his joy in his success.
It is a shame that people have said how boring F1 has become because the same guy wins it every time. They have witnessed a champion who has broken so many records it will be a long time before someone greater than him comes along and breaks all his records.

I can't recall the times involved, but I'll bet they were less than ten years!

The three names I do have, sports-wise, are Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell and Ian Wright!!!

Just realised whilst writing this, YES! There is one person who has thrilled me, and will continue to do so until either he or I dies! Mister JIMMY WHITE!!! The Stirling Moss of the Billiard World! An absolute legend! He's given me, probably, about twenty years of thrills now!

today a legend left my life.....? I was going to say, "Was it your mind?" but upon noting the serious nature of the question, I'll refrain.

Sorry about your loss. Some of us may have what we deem as loftier legends, but a loss is a loss.

And yes, I have lost people that I consider legends, whether they touched my heart for 10 seconds or 10 years, the loss is still remembered.

Peace.

I'm with you on MS - have spent the last hour sobbing like I've lost someone really close to me! (sad, I know...) I just wish they'd given him a bit more of a send off after the race - if anyone deserves it, he does. There's no-one who's even remotely in his league, and I doubt there ever will be again (yes, Alonso, I'm talking to you, you arrogant ar$e)

Well maybe not for ten years (he died), but Stevie Ray Vaughan was/is my hero. I saw him five times. The first time I saw him play was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. When he died I actually felt like I had lost a loved one. Still whenever I hear one of his songs it does something to me, touches my soul.

I'm sorry to see him go too, Nigel Mansell was also a brilliant racer in his day. Barry Sheen was another hero, when he was winning bike races for fun!
