That's not very nice!
There are lots of reasons why people would buy a hamster over a dog... they are cheaper, smaller, take up less room, lower maintenance, quieter, eat less, can be left alone during the day, don't dig up the garden, don't leave hairs all round the house, don't need walking...
Also I don't think there are many humans who have a lower IQ than a dog...If they wanted something really far down the food chain why not go for something like a 'Grow your own pet' kit?

I had a dog-- we had to put her to sleep. I bought a hamster not cuz it's supposedly dumber but because I only have enough room and money right now for a hamster so I wouldn't say what you said, because I'm not dumb, my hamsters not smarter than I am, my dog wasn't either. different species different brains think about it

Most people buy hamsters because they are cute and don't take up a lot of room, but usually dump them when they start marking their territory cos they stink

My only comment is that no-one has actually tried taking a leashed hamster for a walk in the rain.

No, they buy them because they dont crap on the lawn, mark the furniture and leave hair everywhere. Also they don't make that wet dog stink cos you don't have to take them out in the rain to walk them.

people buy hamsters because they are easier than dogs to round up and brand, as well as easier to drive to market.
