Mostly it is probably the environment in which individuals are reared that influences the persons personality. For instance, someone being reared in a privillaged home life would have a very different outlook and personality than someone reared in a deprived area. Also to be considered is that social behaviour is learnt and that the most prominent role models for this are the mother and father.

actually, this is a really big biological debate topic. Major scientific philosophers are constantly debating waht influences a person's personality more, "Nature vs. Nurture" right now, I think that scientists believe that 60% of a person's personality comes from nature, or a person's genes, while the remaining 40% is attributed to environment, or "nurture"

Both. You're born with predetermined aspects and your environment fills in the rest.

Look at twins separated at birth. They'll have somethings in common - like toothpaste preference - yet vary on other apects of their personality.

if you were locked in a basement for the first 5 years of your life, that personality is F'ed........genes can only go so far, but do have a huge impact in who you become.....still humans will adapt to the environment as it changes.

MAINLY the genes, IF not partly environment.

The genes are where traits are inherited, so I don't see what the environment would, if at all, have anything to do with this!
