What often starts out as love, is sometimes just masked as lust, then ends. Or sometimes feelings change. You may love someone deeply but not in love in the(romantic) sense. Unfortunately the best relationships end this way. The trick is LEARNING how to beat the odds and stay in love with the person. Because lets face it , after getting to know someone the fantasy fades. We all have nasty habits, even the perfect ones. And the grass ain't always greener! Wish I had a solid answer to your question, but I'm still in the learning phase. Another thought to your question, sometimes we grow up and grow out of relationships, that's not to say you shouldn't give it a shot at keeping it alive. Sometimes the relationship just need a boost! And sometimes sadly, we must walk away.

I think I can help. If you have any family Im sure you love them. Or if you ever had a pet you loved. When someone says they love you but they're not in love with you they mean that they care about you but not in the way that a couple cares about each other. Like I love my mom and dad but I wouldnt marry either of them, it's a different kind of love but it's still love.

Lisa, have you ever been in love so completely till you feel it down to your toes, he's the first person that you look for when you come into a room, that you can't wait to see him, you think of him when you hear something funny, can't wait to share things with, want his arms around you when you cry. That's "in love."
"I love you" is caring for that person, but not to the point of he's your world. You love your parents, you love your friends, you care, but they don't make your heart pounding or that can't wait feeling.
Did someone tell you this? I hope not, because that hurts! Unfortunately this happens, what people thought was "I am in love" love is only caring for another human being. "I am in love" is more than a feeling-it's a lifestylechange too. You always care what the other person is feeling, doing, and you always always put that person feelings ahead of yours. That's true love.
I love you, but I'm not in love with you-has got to be one of the most hurtful things to hear. Praying you haven't.
God bless us all...............

Yes this person knows nothing about Love, could not define Love if you asked him out right. You have one of two choices. 1) escape before you find out what a total loser he really is, or 2) Help him understand what love is. But wait a minute....you asked this question so you don't know either do you? Bummer!

It is a BS phrase which means nothing. It is intended to say, I care but will not have sex with you. This is the precurser to I want to have sex with someone else because I'm tired of you.
Normally this is the the line which women pull out because they
have been screwing around and cannot be honest with themselves and others.

Translation: You're fun to go to movies with and be my emotional tampon when I need a shoulder to cry on and perform all the other duties of a significant other, but I will never have sex with you as long as I live.
Run for your life.

It means you care for the person and would hate to see anything bad happen to them, BUT not the right person for them to date or have relations with.

when one is "In love" all they want to do is be with the person they are in love with. It is possible to love without being in love. I Love my Friend Jamie, but I am not "in love " with her. I do not feel a need to provide for her or to spend all my time with her, However there was a Lady named Martha whom I was in love with and would have given my life to please her. When I am in love and my lover enters a room, I am mesmerised by them and I would do anything possible to make them happy.
