As many have already answered, the historically black colleges will admit those who are not black. They do not discriminate. These type colleges were started decades ago when blacks were not permitted to enter into other established colleges solely because they were black. Historically black colleges were created to give black the opportunity to go to college.
The same logic applies to the other things that you have mentioned. As blacks were kept out of the mainstream, these things were created. Nowadays, it's not that blacks are being kept out that these things exist. Now it is just a celebration of culture that things are created such as the black music awards, as black music represents a specific type of culture. It really isn't a double standard.

Okay you are highly misinformed. Historically black colleges were founded because African-Americans could not get admitted into any other institutions. However, times have changed. HBCs admit people of all colors, its just more rare to find a non-black student on those campuses because most whites feel uncomfortable going a college where they are the minorty. HBCs recruit non-black students all the time, its just harder to find people willing to go. And in terms of black music awards and voluntary segregation, you are totally off. Just because the African American community comes together to celebrate the achievements of our artists does not make us out of the ordinary. You seem to have no concept of how the norm in this country is white. Shows like friends, (where there were no black people, with acception of gabriel union that one time) are never seen as out of the ordinary. But a show with an all black cast, is called a "black show," people notice that its different. Maybe you should start to examine why it is that people only notice these factors when the white majority is not included?

they are "historically black" colleges and they do admit students who are not black all the time. Not too many white students attend because they might feel out of place as the minority. though it might be good for them to feel like a minority for a change even if it is only on a small college campus.
Segregation is separation that is forced by law. It is illegal. People choosing to hang out, go to school or celebrate one group of people is not illegal and is a choice. Segregation was bad because money and equality of schools, restrooms, restaurants for people of color were at issue. White people hang out all the time as a choice--big deal. When a group chooses to leverage power against another group (like the KKK) then it is racist and wrong. Black Music awards aren't hurting anyone at all (though they make really awful TV) and can't because power/money is not being leveraged against whites or other ethnicities, the people of color are just saying, "hey, our music rocks let's put on a show!"
White people do this all the time, but without color being labelled whatsoever. White is the given.Color is the other. For example: "Friends" just a bunch of white people hanging out in New York City (never once having a black friend) and no one says, "hey there's the white show" it's just a show. A lame one at that.
hope this helps.

You might want to check out "White Guilt," by Shelby Steele. He talks about how black leaders in America use the guilt of older generations of white America to control and manipulate people today.
I haven't read it, but there seems to be an empty signifier that many of these black leaders stand for - and it is anti-white.
I told a girl I know about this book and she said that it sounds like how white guys and her family tries to make her feel bad about herself for being friends with or dating black guys. Something about them wanting to hit it and being afraid of people they know teasing them for going after a black guy... and just rediculous stuff about the family, but that's kinda off on a tangent, so ...

The therory of a pendulum swinging first to one side and then the other; swinging wide at first and slowly making narrower arcs with time applies here. To compensate for the wide swing toward black inequality society makes blacks more equal for awhile. It will swing back and forth for awhile. We (of all colors) all need to live our lives like we all know it should be . . . equality being the only standard, and then the pendulum would be still and things would be relatively equal.

It's the politically correct double standard of the day. I would like to see a white history/heritage month to celebrate my beautiful white history, of which I am proud, but it will never happen because the government erodes our individual liberties daily by making race relations divisive, etc., etc. There's much more to it than you could ever believe unless you have read the volumes of information about it that I have. Just get used to it because it's only going to get worse. Whites are being silenced and phased out by the day.

there are traditionally black colleges and they actually actively recruit white people to come...... they don't deny white people.. its just that most white people don't want to go to a school in which they would be the minority.....
