I had always heard that the area in Southeastern Minnesota along the Mississippi should be included as one of the wonders of the world. Then I think back to the past and no longer see the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Such a beautiful piece of our skyline has been lost. Not to mention the lifes and what they may have created. It is hard to look at NYC and not have a thought as to what can never be again.

I think they have amassed a pretty decent list. I can't think of any other places i'd want to add...my focus is mostly on natural wonders, of which I'd have dozens of recommendations. The New Seven Wonders is only a proposal thus far, not a definite change. Since only one of the original Wonders is left (the pyramids at Giza) Here is the list of candidates I came across:
Acropolis of Athens, Athens, Greece
Alhambra mosque, Granada, Spain
Angkor Wat temple, Angkor, Cambodia
Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico
Christ the Redeemer statue, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Colosseum, Rome, Italy
Easter Island statues, Chile
Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
Great Wall of China, China
Hagia Sophia church, Istanbul, Turkey
Kyomizu Temple, Kyoto, Japan
Kremlin / St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow, Russia
Machu Picchu, Peru
Neuschwanstein Castle, Fussen, Germany
Petra ancient city, Jordan
Pyramids of Giza, Egypt
Statue of Liberty, New York, United States
Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom
Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia
Taj Mahal, Agra, India
Timbuktu, Mali
Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia
I'd omit the Statue of Liberty, the Opera House, and a couple others, but generally, it's a pretty decent list.
