Yes I do, I'm disabled and finished high school, grauated in May 1982. However, you didn't say how disabled, people who are able to walk, study and all, who have a slight learning disability or seziure disorder (i.e.: epilepsy). However, people who are much worse and mostly bedfast, proberly not. It depends on how disabled you're talking about.

People with disabilities are able to go back to school. There's all sorts of help out there for them. You can go to a local OneStop career center or to a Voc Rehab center. Most of the time they will assist people with disabilities to help them get an education. They want the people to become employable. Getting a SSI/SSDI check every month is good, but you can make more money going back to school and getting a good job. By the way, every college and tech school have people to assist those with disabilities. I know someone now who has a learning disability and pursuing her associates degree in nursing.

Not only CAN people with disabilities go to school, they are required by law to be educated. Individual assessments result in a meeting that plans how a child will be taught, in what setting, etc., as close to the regular program as practical. This is attended by school staff, parents, and in some cases the student as well. I have been in IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings where the goal is "John will respond to his name being called" all the way to "John will attend regular education classes with monitoring by the special education dept." Depends, but ALL can go to school.

Certantly we can! I have DD hearing loss vision porblems & physical disablities. I went to School, Didn't like it much but to be honest that's another story.
Education is a right and should actually be alot better adapted for people with disablities not just glorified day care. Oh I can go on all day about that subject.

By all means. Depending upon the type of disability, they can go to a regular school or a type of school that handles the disability that individual may have, whether mental, physical, or both. There are many teachers/instuctors from which ALL of us can learn.
ALL of us need to learn. Every day. Point blank. whether it be from abled or disabled people.

Of course they can go to school i'm not sure of what you mean? do you mean should they be mainstreamed w/ regular students? that is the way it is set up and i know it works well for most but me personnally it does not. My child has a disability and is in reg. ed. school and hates it and is not understood socially or academically and wishes there was another option available except for glorified daycare schools where they don't teach because they are so overwellmed with the students i wish there was another option they deserve it

Of course, because there has been so many people who have disabilities that attend school now as well as a long time ago. i.e. Helen Keller, she was Deaf, Blind, and couldn't speak. but still learned to write, read, and everything else. She even wrote a story about her life, she has a few autobiography's. She even learned to use a typewriter. Which proves when you set your mind to something, and don't give up you can do it.

The Education of All Handicapped Children Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act are both tools that students with disabilties can use to get support services.

I teach children with disabilities and disorders. Why wouldn't they ,or even adults for that matter, be able to go to school. If a disabled adult wants to go to school and they are turned away they have been discriminated against.
