First of all, hun, why are you so worried about having a C-section? Even if you had to have one, it is a common procedure and has no ill effect on the baby or you. You both would be fine! But there should be nothing to worry about. You said the baby's head is down already and that is a wonderful sign for a vaginal delivery. Even if, for some strange reason, she moves to another direction, she can be turned by the doctor and in most cases can still deliver vaginally. My daughter wasn't turned right and they brought me in to turn her, they found she had turned herself, so I didn't have to go through it. She didn't come on time either and they induced. Everything went just fine and (vaginally) she was beautiful and healthy.
Tyr not to stress yourself out because that could cause undue stress on the baby too. Just breathe and trust that everything is in your God's hands!! Your doctor (I'm sure) knows what he is doing as well.
Peace and Blessed be!

Sweetie don't panic. This is your first child so it is very normal for you to not go into labor on time.First baby's are usually late. The fact that you have not dilated at all is normal as well. You may have to get induced. They will put cervadil on your cervix which will soften it overnight ,then in the morning they will give you pitocin through an iv.This brings on your contractions. With my first i was induced,i was in labor 19 hours. But i did have a succesful delivery. If shes head down odds are she will stay that way.Do not go into this with a negative attitude.I know you are so scared,i had twins and feared the possibility of a c-section but i was able to deliver naturally. You will have a chance to have your baby natural, but remember if your baby goes into distress then to keep your baby healthy a c-section would be needed. Your husband can be by your side, and the nurses are so supportive they will really help you through the labor process more then your family will.I know you want them to be there but you will be able to focus better with your nurse or midwife by yourside. You won't smack them, but i relative you wouldn't think twice!!! I guarantee you that you will be fine. You will be so focused on your baby that all these nervous thoughts will go right away.Try to focus on something else and know that whatever happens afterwards you will be bringing home this bundle of joy,and you will be thinking about how you would love to have another one someday. The feeling you get as a woman after child birth is pure euphoria. The experience is life changing.

No need to worry. An overwhelming majority of babies stay in the head down position. In fact, I understand it to be very rare that a baby turns into a position not condusive to vaginal birth at a point so close to delivery. My best advice is to try to relax, as stress can exacerbate the feelings of pain and is not conducive to a healthy birth. And while epidurals are regarded as generally safe, holding off as long as possible (or even completely, as I did and many women do) allows for your body to respond as nature would have it. However, should you have any overwhelming fears about birth, perhaps you should speak with your doctor and let him/her know how imperative that you avoid a c-section. When my blood pressure rose and the protein in my urine became excessive, my doctor considered induction, which can lead to a section. However, when I expressed how badly I wanted a drug free, vaginal birth, he reconsidered and decided monitoring my condition would be acceptable. I suspect most doctors are just as sensitive. However, do keep in mind that, should a c-section become necessary, it is no doubt what is best for your baby's,or your personal, health...which is the most important factor of any birth experience.

Don't fret over it. Just because you haven't dilated yet, doesn't mean that you won't. Lots of women go to the doc and find out that they haven't dilated but go home and they end up in labor soon after. Give it a little more time. If you haven't gone into labor by the 41st week, most docs will induce you because the placenta can actually lose it's functionality and it will be best for baby to go ahead and come on out.
When you go in for your next checkup, be sure and discuss your concerns with your doc. He/she will be able to give you the best answers...
Also, don't let the idea of a c-section scare you so badly. If it comes down to it, wouldn't you rather have a healthy baby in the long run?
Good luck to you! Try to relax and enjoy this last week or so of your pregnancy.

Sweetie, do not borrow trouble. In other words, do not worry and think positive thoughts, as you have no control over what will happen. Besides worry can effect your blood pressure, and you do not need high blood pressure going into labor. Do lots of walking so the baby will drop in place, and for the exercise. This also helps with the effacing, or thinning, of the cervix, and the childbirth process. The better shape you are in, usually the shorter time in labor. If it comes to a C-section, you will be given a local anesthetic and prepped for surgery. Being given a local will allow you to be awake and witness the birth of the baby. Yes, you will be sore, but you will be fine, and so will your beautiful baby. My best to you and your little family.

I was so much like you with my first child. I am currently pregnant with baby number two. I didn't want to have a c-section. The best advice that I can give you right now is to stay calm and things will go the way they go. When in labor you need to stay focused on the baby and on the contractions. Wait as long as you can before you get an epidural if you get one. This STOPPED my labor and caused me to a have a c-section with my daughter. Thank gosh it happened this way though, she weighted 8lbs 14oz and was 22inches long. There was no way that she was coming through there. Doc thought she would be smaller then average because I lost twenty pounds while pregnant with her. Yes LOST 20 lbs. I had severe morning sickness. Just relax and let your body do it's job and think happy thoughts. Lamaze is a good way to go and I plan on attending Lamaze this time so I can relax and let things go the way they are suppose to. I pray for a VBAC. Doc is all for it and I plan on trying!!
Good luck!!!

They only have to do a C section if there is medical problems, an emergency. If you go over time, then all the doctor had to do is induce you. Dont worry about a C section at all. Inducing labor will be fine. I was induced with my 2nd child. Wasnt a problem. Calm down though. Just becuase you havent dialated at all doesnt mean you still cant go into labor tonight all of a sudden. It will happen when it happens.

You can go 2 weeks over your due date.I`ve heard of people getting checked at doctors visit and was not dialated only to go into labor and give birth that same night. Some opens up at the last minute. My last son did a few complete turn while I was in labor with him but was born head first. If you have a good doc to deliver the baby then why worry?

As fast as a baby can turn to breach possition it can also change back to head first. Your body is a wonderful tool and knows when its time to dialate. Don't worry, but if you are going to have a c-section, its not the end of the world. Women have them everyday and everyday they give birth with no complications.
