We would like to move to another state, mostly for job purposes. My son's father and I were never married. I am the custodial parent and he has visitation only.

Generally if you are moving to better your life and thereby better the life of the child it's not a problem. Your visitation will have to be changes to something more suitable to being farther away. The one caution is that you will have to be proven to be the far superior parent to his father. Just prove you are fit parent and want to move to better both you and the child's life.

most states only request that the natural father sign a statement saying that it's ok... my daughter had to get permission from her ex... it may depend on the situation the reason if it's for better employment etc. You do have to allow visitation though hopefully you and your ex can work things out for the good of the child good luck. I love West Virginia... my home sweet home.

I think it would be best if you consulted a lawyer. It is your best bet in getting the right info.
