Depends on the procedure. I know a doc that can laparoscopically remove the gallbaldder in just under 11 minutes. It won't be more than an hour. It doesn't hurt at all, they'll even inject local into the incision sites( which are less than an inch wide) while you're under so your post op pain will be less. With anything laparoscopic there's very, very little need to worry. You'll be fine.

I've had a hysteroctopy and laporoscopy too and their both OK. I'm assuming they've explained how both procedures work? The hysteroctopy won't cause you any problems, and the most likely side effect of the laporoscopy is that they pump air into you to lift your other organs away from the womb and fallopian tubes so they can get a clearer look. That air sometimes stays trapped in there for a few days and that can make you feel bloated, your tummy feel tender and put pressure on your bladder and other organs. It goes over a few days and just might leave you needing to take it easy for a few days. The laporoscopy will leave you with one or two stiches on your belly button and might get a bit sore so make you bathe regularly and that it doesn't dry and crack and you might want to try to make sure you don't wear skirts or trousers that have a waistband that sits right across your belly button. the procedures don't take long and you'll not know much about it. The important thing is they're doing these tests to have a look at what's going presumably because you've been having some problems with your periods or something - and its important that they get to the bottom of that. I'm sure it will all go well, but I wish you well with it all the same.

It looks like you are trying to say "hysteroscopy" and "laparoscopy".

How things will go for you is dependent on a number of things.

Pain will be related to what gets done, and your personal pain tolerance. If the laparoscopy is a quick look, there isn't going to be a lot of pain. Many, many procedures can be done laparoscopically now, including gastric bypass, hysterectomy, bowel surgery, etc. Obviously, those surgeries are going to cause more post-operative pain. If you have endometriosis, or adhesions (scarring inside your abdomen/pelvis), the pain will likely be moderate. The good news about using scopes is that the incisions are small (1/2 -1 inch each) and they don't have to make large cuts through muscle. You may have 1 incision, you may have 6 - it depends on what is being done.

You will need general anesthesia for the procedure, because they fill your belly up with gas, and it is impossible to keep you comfortable with anything other than general. You will get medicine through your iv, and go off to sleep. After you go to sleep, a breathing tube will be placed into your windpipe. That is necessary for all laparoscopic surgeries to prevent aspiration (inhaling vomit). The tube comes out as you are waking up at the end. The anesthesia will last as long as the surgery does, which, again, depends on what gets done (and who is doing it, and what they find, etc.) If you have a lot of scarring, or are obese, the procedure will probably take a little longer.

While you are under anesthesia, you will get pain medicine, and medicine to help prevent nausea. When you wake up, if you have any pain or fell queasy, the recovery room nurses can give you more pain or nausea medicine.

What you are having done is very routine for the people who work in the OR, so everything should go smoothly. Follow the directions that you are given before and after surgery, and call your surgeon if you have any questions.

Good luck!

with a laparoscopy u r only under anaesthetic for about half an hour and u only have mild tummy pain after it its a bit like wind but it goes away quickly and u don't have much of a scar, when u get home make sure u have some antibacterial cream and dab a little on the stitches every couple of hours with a cotton bud or something because the area of the laparoscopy is in the naval and that area holds allot of Bactria and the cream will help to prevent an infection

I've only had a laparoscopy, it was done under local anaesthetic so no pain at the time. Back ache and period type pain later the same day but not for long and no worse than a bad period. I was only under for a short time. The whole thing was over in a few hours then I went home. Good luck, hope it goes okay.

Well, I had laproscopy it does hurt. You are very sore when you move and its hard to get up and down by your self. You do heal alot faster. Be prepared and have someone near to help you get around and shower for a few days. Best of luck to you.
