Well, looking at this question seriously, it might be something to do with the fact that politics seems to attract people who, when they are at university, tend to get involved in student societies and political associations. And they are able to do this because the real future strength of the nation, the engineers, scientists, medics, etc., are all too busy studying demanding topics, carrying out complex lab experiments and generally learning thing that are genuinely useful to society when they graduate. They do not have time for dilettante pursuits.
On the other hand, potential politicians, namely lawyers, social scientists and the ilk (a nice Scottish word for you!), when they graduate, find that few jobs are open to them so they turn to politics. Some of them end up in political parties which, at various times, form governments. Strangely enough, a high proportion of these idle blighters at university seem to be Scotsmen, hence they tend to be in government. The conclusion must be, therefore, that they are not natural leaders, but more natural opportunists!
PS And it's 'we Scotsmen' not 'us Scotsmen'; honestly, if you are going to govern us at least learn our language properly!

You're not in charge of English politics - that would mean county councils - but UK politics. Scotland is very well-represented in the Labour Party. When the pendulum swings back to the Tories, there will be as few Scottish ministers as there were in the 1980s. And if the Scots are so great at governing, why has the Scottish Parliament been such a damp squib?

Scotsmen are wise and, although outnumbered, they have always
been very prominent in UK politics.

No - but your leader (Tony Bliar) is a Scot and has to look after you lot to keep himself in a job - and yes. the rest of us are sick to death of the Scots getting preferential treatment where money is concerned.
