I don't mean to sound insensitive but it isn't all that uncommon. In San Francisco, some restaurants are famous for the rudeness of the service and ownership. It is almost an attraction. One reason people have small businesses is that they can't work well with others and love terrorizing their employees. All you can really do is quit.
Don't take it personally. It wasn't you. Just try again someplace else. But maybe ask the current staff about the working conditions first.

You sound very insecure? Not many would have put up with that, why did you? The money certainly couldn't have been the issue!!
I really don't know what to say, I realize we are all built differently, but you cant go through the rest of your life like this, being taken advantage of!!
I squirmed just trying to imagine the scene, I could never face myself again if I had allowed anyone to get away with that!!! I would have wrapped the tray around her head publicly and faced whatever after!!
I am not going to suggest any form of therapy, because I believe they are all robbers, but you do need a boost of self confidence, how are you going to get that?? And be able to tell these types of folk to get well and truly stuff*d!!
Go to the library, look for books on the subject, type in 'self confidence' into your search engine and get some info, do whatever it takes, but try and do it on your own, you are as good if not better than the next person, get yourself sorted!!
And good luck for the future, do not take any more cra* from anyone!!

No it is not the normal way of work life, but it happens often.
Let me guess.
You are a quiet person, probally a little timid.
People like her take advantage of people like you, thinking that they are a push-over.
Some people confuse niceness for weakness.
Let her know in a firm but respectful way that you're not taking crap off of her and that you came here to do your assigned job without being harassed.
If she persists, you could either talk to the owner about the situation or seek other employment.

Oh honey, get out of there, just walk away. I promise you, you'll be fine. There is NEVER any reason to treat another person as rudely as she did you!! You are too good to put up with that.
I repeat.....LEAVE. ( personally....I'm old enough to read her the RIOT ACT!! If you are young, you won't have the nerve...sadly)

Mamma san is a mean abusive woman. You can get a decent waitress job anywhere. You do not need her.

no there is nothing normal about that. The owners wife is an abusive ego maniac and should have been put in jail for pushing you that should have been filed as assault
