Because he needs someone to be there for him , to boost his ego and stroke his pride .

Because a man who is successful has probably gone through a lot to get there, suffering emotional battles, and possibly even pride and ego blows, who else is there to bring him back up than his woman, or partner? I think relationships are a huge part of life, and if he is successful, he is most likey successful in a lot of aspects of his life, and has had that woman to bring him up along the way.
