They seem to love their veil and being told what to do. Maybe they actually like all the attention from the media.

i don't know if its so much that they like being oppressed, as it is they like the comfort and security of not having to make any decisions. this doesn't just apply to the women, it applies to the men of islam as well.

you are free from the worry and insecurity of having to make any decisions. your entire life is scripted by some mullah or iman or husband and he gets his marching orders from the koran.

i think islam is a crutch for those who are afraid of personal responsibility.

No one likes to be oppressed. You should not generalize like that and say all Muslim women were oppressed. I have a good friend who wears headscarf and it is very important to her, but she is not oppressed by anyone, and I know her very well.

Those women who are really oppressed should get support, but people should stop to always blame everything on Islam.

To them it's not bieng oppressed it is the way they were raised. Just like christians or anybody else you are raised to believe something no matter how ridiculous it seems to others and it's hard to change those beliefs.

Don't know but isn't that how many people are? Clinging to how they have been taught as children, like sheep. Christians do the same kind of thing and then try to force it on all of us.

You should learn a bit more about Islam before you make such sweeping generalisations mate.

Also, how come nobody complained before the media jumped on one blokes comments? Think for youself, don't just get swept away with the papers.

They have been oppresed their whole lives and don't know any better. How do you know what freedom tastes like until you have experienced it! They never have. I feel so sorry for them.
