Its unusual to find a shower screen that only works one way. Think about it ...... if that was the case and it had been fitted at the other end of the bath then it would only open outwards. I have been in the bathroom industry for 25 years & cant remember a screen like you are describing. Check the packaging if you still have it to see if it is handed or what adjustments can be made to make it operate both ways

Erm, why would you want to reach around it to switch the shower on? Why not get into the bath, close the door, and then switch the shower on?!?!
I don't think a shower screen opening inwards is necessarily wrong. If it opened outwards, then all the water on the screen could run off onto your bathmat. Opening inwards means it goes into the bath and drains away.
If you're really not happy with it, get him to change it (if possible). I don't think you have a case for him having done it wrong before though, so you'll probably have to pay him to change it.

The door should open inwards to allow the water to drip into bath. It sounds like yours is upside down therefore opening the wrong way. If a definate pattern that shows the door the right way up, the fault is with the maker, although the plumber should have noticed that you wouldn't be able to reach the controls so get him back to rectify the fault and if wrong door, charge the door maker with the plumbers charge. Good luck.

They are made to hinge both ways, the reason it probably wont open out the way is usually because of the shape of the bath, they tend to either have a lip, or be slightly tapered around the top to stop water spilling out. it only swings in the way because of this. if you force it, the rubber along the bottom willmove over the lip or rim of the bath, but use both hands and do it steadily. You cam of course remove the rubber seal from the bottom of the shower screen so that it moves freely.

The door should open inwards to keep water from coming out. the problem is that the door is hinged on the wrong side. you should be able to open it up and see the controls, while the door acts as a shield from water.see if there is a place to attach it to the other side of the frame.

if its the type of door that wont open both ways then your plumber was correct. if it would only open outwards the chance of water escaping whilst showering would increase.

yes its not only wrong but potentially hazardous you should be able to adjust your taps before getting into the shower .obviously we need to run the hot water until it reaches its max flow temp.
