If you don't want to talk about something it's okay to say so.

You can be honest and speak from a place inside that is caring...and still people could be rude to you. If you are authentic about it, then you are going to be okay. You are not responsible for the way others act. You've been claiming responsibility and shooting yourself down. And you please people to avoid the pain of rejection in that way. The cost is self expression and the freedom to just be you.

If it really is a personal question, just avoid it, say vague things like,
"Maybe," or "Somewhat," or even "I'll tell you later, but ...(ask a question about her)..." If she persists, are you sure she is even a good friend to have if she can't pick up on a hint?

Depends on how often you talk to this friend, all she wants from you is honesty, why pick the easy way out just tell her, she'll understand. Dont treat her like that she wont appreciate it.

it's okay to answer "i'd rather not say" to anyone who asks you questions that's too personal for them to ask. it's not rude. in fact, it's probably the most polite way to respond.
