Since you are there anyway, ASK!!! At least you will know what the dermatologist has to say about your acne. You and your mom can decide if any of the treatment options offered by the dermatologist are worth trying.
Good Luck.

This is weird. I never heard of a dermatologist asking questions about a patient's sex life before. First of all, you are 18 so i don't understand why you need to bring your mother to your next appointment with you. Secondly, most doctors make their patients sign a HIPPA form (I think that's what it's called) which asks you to list the people who you want to give privilege to the information in your medical record. Usually, if a person is not listed on a form, they won't be allowed into the examining room with you. So ask about that. I stupidly assumed once that a doctor would have the common sense not to bring up past medical information in front of ,my mother. I hadn't seen him in over a year and he brought up something that my mom had no idea about. It was a disaster! Technically, i could have made a real issue out of this because they did not adhere to the HIPPA rules. Anyway, just make sure if you bring your mom that you call in advance to let the doctor know that you want your medical record to remain confidential. Maybe your mom can wait in the waitng area while he consults with you.

Dermatologists are there to make your skin look healthy and clear of blemishes. I go to my Dermatologist for monthly face treatments. They aren't the most comfortable but they are so short and worth the pain.

Your dermatologist can prescribe you some acne medications. I had severe acne for 3 years before I saw my dermatologist, and he said, "why live unhappily with acne when you can just get rid of it and be happy?"
I hope I helped!

Ask for treatment definately! I've had that problem and I got medicine... asking doesnt hurt anything so just go ahead! It will probably help in the long run.

Ask your dermotologist. Thats what acne treatment is for...so you dont have to feel yucky about how you look. You may grow out of it...the point is...if you dont have to suffer with it...dont!

It certainly can't hurt to ask while you are there. I think if it is embarassing you, you should see if there is a treatment.
