Logic problem? need help ! the "alice" problem. 10pts !?

Question

what are their first and last names? in what order did they arrive ? and what was each person wearing?

Costumes : queen of hearts, mock turtle, white rabbit, caterpillar
First names: chris, dana, henry , susanh
Last Names: amers, hamamoto,martinez, waters

- the first 4 arrivals , in no particular order were: susan, professor martinez, the one dressed as the caterpillar, and the second to arrive.

- henry arrived immediately before the one dressed as the white rabbit, who arrived just before professor ames.

- the women dressed as the queen of hearts arrived just before professor waters, who arrived immediately before chris.

* i tried to solve it , i have half the boxes filled in but still am having a lot of trouble.. please help :-)

for peakles- susan can not be professor matrinez. look at the first set of information.. susan and professor martinez are two different people

You have two chains of arrivals:

Henry before white rabbit before P. Ames, so H? < wr < ?A
queen hearts before P. Waters before Chris, so qh < ?W < C?

Since qh is female, it can't be Henry, so did Henry arrive before qh or after? Since wr arrives immediately after Henry, qh must have arrived before Henry, making the 2nd arrival Henry Waters.

Since the caterpillar is not the second to arrive, it must be last, since we've accounted for the white rabbit being 3rd, thus making mock turtle the second

I'm stuck here because Dana as a name has no preferred gender. The obvious choice would be Susan as the queen, making Dana the caterpillar, but the reverse would also work.

The trick you probably missed is this: Either Henry or the Queen is 1st or 2nd. If Henry is 1st then the Rabbit is 2nd which can't happen because the queen would have to be 2nd. so the queen is 1st, Henry is 2nd. And the rest falls together.
