Due to the weather system in the UK, the sighting of the new moon is absolutely hard. This is due to the clouds above us.
Can Pilots or those in the cockpit see the new moon easily ?
Do they (aviation world) have informatin on this matter.
Will be very highly appreciated.
Answers from Pilots will be very much appreciated.

Cripes, you don't have to be a pilot. I fly frequently, and yes you get above the weather.

I would guess you are Muslim and need to see the New Moon to herald the end of Ramadan. Do I guess right.

Otherwise, why would you be so concerned.

Note that the true, New Moon is invisible. I think even the Imams in Mecca will only get to see the moon one day after.

by defination of a new moon, it is so that the lit side of the moon is completly facing away from the earth as such the new moon is always invisible from the earth even if above the clouds in a plane. What is usually taken as the sighting of the new moon is the smallest possible crescent of the moon - this cresent often being a symbol of Islam. It needs a clear sky and very good eyesight to see it and i beleive it can be seen as young as 12 hours old. as thid time it will be very near the sun and be very careful of your eyesight if you try to find it and whatever you do, do not use binoculars, accidently hit the sun and wave bye bye to seeing.

First, as has been said, the new moon is never visible even on clear days. It is only a day or two after new that the thin crescent moon starts to be visible. If there are clouds a day or two after new moon, then aircraft can fly above those clouds and see the thin crescent moon easily.
